| Abstract: At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park will be the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years, and the largest conversion of a former landfill to a public park int he country. Along with this massive scale comes a unique opportunity to shape New York City's landscape by reconsidering what a 21st century park can be. Building from the Master Plan of the site and first phases of the park's capital program, the New York City Department of Parks & recreation is searching for colleagues and partners to help focus a research and development agenda that will take advantage of the site's potential as a long-term research and educational site.
